Library hosting ‘Let’s Talk About Race’ discussion
CROMWELL — The Cromwell Belden Public Library’s next community conversation, “Let’s Talk About Race,” scheduled for Aug. 20, is now open for registration.
This virtual workshop, which will take place at 6 p.m. via Zoom, will provide a forum to discuss and understand the impacts of anti-Black violence and systemic racism in society, according to a press release. Staff aim to create a nonjudgmental space to help community members process thoughts and feelings about nationwide protests in support for Black lives.
No prior experience in community dialogues or anti-racist work is required, the release said. All participants should leave that evening with practical tools for continued learning.
All residents, as well as those from surrounding Connecticut towns, are invited to register and receive the Zoom attendance link. This town hall-style virtual workshop will be facilitated by Derek Hall and Bulaong Ramiz-Hall of Ramiz-Hall Consulting.
The company provides coaching and training services to organizations and communities seeking to create positive and inclusive environments, engage equitably with their communities, and help move society forward toward racial equity and justice, according to the library.
Registration is free and reservations can be made at cromwellct.com/library, calling 860-632-3460, or by registering in person at 39 West St. during open hours.
