Celebrating Halloween appears to be a tricky prospect this year, considering how the pandemic is still a problem.

But one thing you can do is enjoy the season with some scary outdoor movies at the drive- in at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

They’ve got fright- night films for all ages. There’s even a funny movie about an eccentric family with a detached hand for a servant.

Double features run Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31. Friday’s lineup starts with “The Addams Family” at 6 p. m. When the clock strikes 10 p. m., “The Exorcist,” rated R, will be screened.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the Addams family? ( They’re creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky.)

This 1991 film, which is rated PG, is about a man (Christopher Lloyd) who claims to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams ( Raul Julia).

When he arrives at the Addams’ home, the family is thrilled, but Morticia ( Anjelica Huston) begins to suspect he’s a fraud because he can’t recall details from Fester’s life.

“The Exorcist,” one of the most profitable horror flicks ever made, is about a 12-year- old girl, Regan ( Linda Blair), who starts acting in bizarre ways — levitating, speaking in tongues. After her mother ( Ellen Burstyn) seeks medical help and gets nowhere, a local priest

( Jason Miller) figures Regan is in the devil’s power and that an exorcism must be performed.

Did you know several injuries occurred on the set of this film? One involved Blair, who fractured her spine after being strapped into equipment that had been rigged to depict convulsions. In one take, the apparatus came loose and hurt her. Blair has said she screamed in pain but the crew thought she was acting, and the scene made it into the

movie.

On Halloween night you can enjoy “Hotel Transylvania,” an animated movie that’s rated PG, followed by “Halloween,” an R- rated slasher film.

“Hotel Transylvania” tells a tale about Count Dracula, who owns of a hotel where the world’s monsters can take a break from us humans. Complications arise when he invites monster celebs to celebrate his daughter’s birthday, and an ordinary

human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with her.

The early family- friendly movies kick off with a socially distanced costume and candy parade at 6 p. m. Children 12 and under may be accompanied by one parent/guardian, and can follow Foxwoods’ wagon ( golf cart) around the drive- in. The parade will last about 15 minutes.

Participants must wear a mask in addition to their costume mask. “Following the parade, each child will receive one COVID- safe bag of candy and return to their cars for the movie,” Foxwoods says.

Social distancing is practiced at these events, where you tune your car radio to 88.5 FM or 91.3 FM. Employees wear masks and gloves at all times, and you’ll need to wear a mask, too, when checking in.

The space to the left of your vehicle is where you can place chairs and/or blankets. Spots are firstcome, first- served, and while tickets may be available at the gate, advance purchase is recommended. For further details, see foxwoods.com.
