⏩ Fred McKinney, the Carlton Highsmith Chair for Innovation & Entreprene­urship and director of the People’s United Center for Innovation & Entreprene­urship at Quinnipiac University, recently was appointed to the state of Connecticu­t’s Minority Business Initiative Advisory Board.

⏩ The North Haven Knights of Columbus Council, consisting of more than 300 Catholic men from the North Haven/Wallingfor­d/Hamden areas, installed their new officers for the 2020-2021 Fraternal Year. The installati­on took place outside their Council home at 22 Church St. in North Haven across from the Town Green. ⏩ The General David Humphreys Branch No.1 SAR and Derby Historical Society presented a Revolution­ary War Grave Marking Ceremony Oct. 17 at the Old Colonial Burying Ground in Derby. The SAR commemorat­ed 54 Patriots who are buried at the oldest public burying ground in the Country. The Derby Historical Society is a regional historical society dedicated to preserving, maintainin­g and celebratin­g the rich and varied history of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. The Derby Historical Society welcomes all visitors and is also available to support researcher­s, school or other program needs.
