DBD to hold annual meeting March 24
MIDDLETOWN — The annual meeting of the Middletown Downtown Business District (DBD) will be held on Zoom March 24. This year the annual meeting includes the election of Commissioners.
Per the Bylaws of the DBD Section 2, Elections, (a) “The Board of Commissioners, elected April 2001 shall serve until the Annual Meeting of the District in March 2003, and biennially thereafter, there shall be an election conducted by the Board of Commissioners at an annual meeting called specifically for that purpose”.
In addition, Section 2, (b) For the purpose of electing commissioners, a voter must be a property owner in the District OR a duly authorized representative of a property owner. Only those property owners or duly authorized representatives must present written authorization to the moderator of the election. The moderator is appointed by the Chairperson of the Board.” DBD Chairwoman, Marie Kalita has appointed DBD Coordinator, Sandra RussoDriska, moderator for the purposes of the DBD Annual Meeting and Election of Commissioners.
Middletown City Ordinance 272-14 states: A Commissioner shall be an owner or lessee of a taxable property in the District, an owner or operator of a business in the district or an employee of such business, OR a resident of Middletown, OR an employee of any business or organization located in Middletown.
All nominations must be made in writing via email to the District Coordinator, Sandra Russo-Driska no later than Feb. 1 to the following email: Sandra@Downtownmiddletown.com. A confirmation of nomination will be sent. Voters should include a short paragraph of the nominee. This will be helpful, especially for new individuals to the process.
