Bert, as she was known to her co-workers and friends, was employed by the City of New Haven as a Certified Tax Analyst until her retirement. Meme, the family nickname coined by her first Grandchild, Jimmy, was the perfect mother and grandmother. Kind, loving, generous, and always knew how to make you smile. Whether it was having sunrise coffee on the porch; watching the stars by the campfire; sleepovers; planning and cooking for holidays and family gatherings or teaching her grandchildren to do the grocery shopping, cook, bake, play video games, win at Poker and Setback; explore food options; sharing her Pocahontas birthday cake; or helping granddaughters to add “a little lace” to an outfit. She had a special and unique bond with everyone she touched. Meme enjoyed spending time with family, spreading love, and sharing laughs. We miss our family Matriarch dearly and are blessed to have spent family time together and have memories to cherish. “Meme, We Love You Way More.” Thank you to all of Meme’s care giving “Heros” that have taken special care of her over these last few months. Especially, Dr. Michael Imevbore (she worshipped you), Smillow Cancer Center of Guilford, Yale New Haven and St. Raphael’s Hospitals, Branford Hills Health Center, and CT Hospice of Branford.
