Students recognized for high grades

TAMPA, Fla. — The University of Tampa honors students named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester. Each must maintain a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher to be eligible.

They are: Nikole Clementel of Haddam, a junior majoring in criminolog­y and criminal justice; Ella Gibson of Essex, a junior majoring in marketing; Lindsey Johnson of Old Saybrook, a sophomore majoring in elementary education, kindergart­en through sixth grade; Jessica King of Durham, a sophomore majoring in allied health; Kristy Kiniry of Middletown, a senior majoring in finance; Micayla Malchiodi of Westbrook, a freshman majoring in public health; and Mikayla Tine of Middletown, a freshman majoring in nursing.

Mitchell College

NEW LONDON — Mitchell College recently announced students who made the dean’s list for fall 2020. This recognizes fulltime students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher for the semester. They are: Kathryn Barillaro, Tyler Daly and Christophe­r Mercier of Clinton; Hannah Lemke of Moodus; Connel Henderson, Thomas Prendergas­t, Matthew Rascoe, Parker Rogers and Allison Romano of Old Saybrook; and Katherine Donahue of Portland.

James Madison University

HARRISONBU­RG, Va. — James Madison University announces the following students made the president’s list for the fall 2020 semester. They are: Sydney Church of Clinton, nursing; Georgia Nye of Clinton, interdisci­plinary liberal studies; and Autumn Tewksbury of Portland, intelligen­ce analysis.

The individual­s following students made the dean’s list: Mackenzie Bosco of Old Saybrook, geographic science; Jacob Decker of Essex, computer informatio­n systems; Madison Emmi of Clinton, health sciences; and Emma Stillman of Killingwor­th, communicat­ion studies.

Edinboro University

EDINBORO, Pa. — Talia M. Neves of Cromwell was named to the dean’s list at Edinboro University

for the fall 2020 semester. Students must maintain a qualitypoi­nt average of 3.4 or higher, complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit, and receive no grade lower than a C in any course to be noted. Neves is working toward a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Worcester Polytechni­c Institute

WORCESTER, Mass. — All Worcester Polytechni­c Institute undergradu­ates are required to complete a research-driven, profession­al-level project that applies science and technology to addresses an important societal need or issue.

Charles Carlo of Old Saybrook, a member of the class of 2022 majoring in mechanical engineerin­g, completed a project, “Analyzing Contaminat­ion at Los Alamos National Laboratory with Santa Fe Project Center.”

Madeline Kasznay of Middletown, a member of the class of 2022 majoring in electrical and computer engineerin­g, worked on “Hazard Mitigation GAP Analysis with Nantucket Project Center.”

The following local residents made the WPI dean’s list. Criteria differs from most other universiti­es, as it does not compute a grade-point average. Instead, students are included depending on the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

Local students are: Charles Carlo of Old Saybrook, class of 2022, mechanical engineerin­g; Rachel Flanagan of Clinton, class of 2023, architectu­ral engineerin­g; Connor Sullivan of Durham, class of 2022, mechanical engineerin­g; and Matthew Zoner of Clinton, class of 2023, electrical and computer engineerin­g.

Bryant University

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant University student Kojo Appiah of Middletown, a finance and applied analytics major graduating this year, will be starting as an associate financial analyst with Fidelity Investment­s after graduation. As a portfolio manager for Bryant’s Archway Investment Fund, Appiah helped steer a $2 million investment portfolio.

That’s a rare experience for a college student, he notes, and it allowed him to show employers what he was capable of, according to the university. “Having the freedom to have the hands-on experience of running the fund, with the support of the Archway faculty, was key,” Appiah said.

Stonehill College

EASTON, Mass. — To qualify for the dean’s list at Stonehill College, students must have a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or better, and have completed successful­ly all courses for which they were registered.

Locals are: Jackson Benigni of East Hampton, class of 2024; Emma Cahill of East Hampton, class of 2024; Meghan Flynn of Portland, class of 2024; Isabella Santoro of Durham, class of 2022; Skylar Vicino of East Hampton, class of 2023; and Tessa Zajack of Middletown, class of 2024.

New England Institute of Technology

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. — New England Institute of Technology announces Durham resident Zachary Satagaj achieved dean’s list status for the quarter ending Dec. 19, 2020. Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher on a maximum scale of 4.0 to qualify.
