Stonehill marches past SCSU

Justin Felder ran for 188 yards and five touchdowns as Stonehill rolled to a 54-21 win non-conference win over Southern Connecticu­t State on Saturday in Easton, Mass.

Stonehill quarterbac­k Anton Stoneking threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns and wide receiver Chris Domercant had four catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Southern got on the scoreboard when quarterbac­k Jackson Ostrowsky scored on a 2-yard run with 7:51 to go in the second quarter to cut the lead to 20-7.

Ostrowsky threw for 271 yards and a touchdown and Tylon Pappalo had five receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown for the Owls who fall to 1-1.

Albright College 33, WestConn 28: At Danbury, Matt Forti registered a game-high 11 tackles and freshman quarterbac­k John Giller threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns, but Western Connecticu­t State fell to 1-1 on the season.

Giller completed 23-of-32 passes, but it was an intercepti­on on the closing drive, at the Lions three yard line by Armo Jefferson, that put the game away for Albright, with 16 seconds remaining. Giller's touchdowns came from 25 and 17 yards out.

Albright quarterbac­k Todd Shelley completed 18 of 29 passes for 246 yards, tossed three TDs and was picked off once. His primary target was Malik Bootman, who finished with seven catches for 107 yards and scores from 21 and 12 yards, respective­ly.

CCSU 21, Wagner 19: At New York, Romelo Williams threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score and Central Connecticu­t opened Northeast Conference play with a victory.

Wagner (0-2, 0-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead on Naiem Simmons’ 5-yard TD run in the first quarter and Austin Hosier’s 18-yard field with 6 minutes left in the second quarter.

The Blue Devils (1-1, 1-0) didn’t get on the scoreboard until the final play of the first half when Williams hit Jiovany Pierre with a 6-yard scoring strike to cut the deficit to 10-7.

Curry 21, Coast Guard 18: at Milton, Mass., Cameron Cruz's 20-yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter helped seal the non-conference win for Curry.

Justin Mullaney was 25 for 39 for 188 yards and a touchdown for Curry (1-1).

For Coast Guard (1-1), quarterbac­k Tafari Wall threw a pair of touchdowns, but was intercepte­d four times. Damaso Jaime finished with 100 yards receiving on eight catches.
