College students make honors, graduate
BOSTON — Abigail LaVigne of Middletown graduated from Emerson College in December 2020, earning a bachelor of artschelor of arts degree in media arts production.
The college awarded degrees to members of the class of 2021 May 2, including Julia Larosa of Middlefield, who received a bachelor of artschelor of arts in writing, literature and publishing.

BOSTON — Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announces students named to the dean’s list for the spring 2021 semester. It recognizes those students with a full-time course load who have achieved outstanding scholarship with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the academic term.
Bisma Aftab is a native of Middletown pursuing a bachelor of artschelor of science in premedical health studies who will graduate in 2023; and Echo De Jong is a native of Portland pursuing a bachelor of artschelor of science in dental hygiene who will graduate this year.

To be included, a student’s GPA for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89.

Assumption University
WORCESTER, Mass. — Over the summer, a number of Assumption University students collaborated with faculty to conduct research relevant to their individual fields of study ranging from cancer research to adolescent behavioral studies.
Emma Ushchak, of Middletown, was one of 19 students who presented their original research projects during a Summer Scholars Research Symposium Sept. 8, providing the campus community an opportunity to learn about and recognize the impressive scholarship and dedication of students and faculty in their pursuit of discovery.
Ushchak, a member of the class of 2022, presented “Quantitative Ultrasonic Properties of Prostate Cells.”
