The truth about new Texas law
New legislation in Texas restricting the ability of abortionists to perform the procedure which ends the life of a preborn infant has spurred pro-choice advocates to action.
A recent commentary by state Rep. Christine Palm showcased the angst which abortion advocates are feeling since the Texas law took effect.
One might assume that this concern stems from the legislation itself; however, that is not the case.
Quite simply put, the main stumbling block in abortion’s path is attention.
The most poignant aspect of Rep. Palm’s piece is her celebration of Connecticut’s elimination of a mandatory ultrasound prior to abortion.
That is exactly what the pro choice movement strives to accomplish on a broader scale. Skip the ultrasound, muddy the waters, avoid at all cost divulging the reality of abortion to the public eye.
We are told, “follow the science.” The science is clear, life begins at conception. Full stop.
The necessary consequence of revisiting Roe is that the pro choice movement must now take the next step of owning its own policy: the sacrifice of human life on the altar of success and expediency.
(Maternal health concerns account for 4 percent of U.S. abortions).
And that is what terrifies them.
The next time you hear the phrase, “a woman’s right to choose,” just ask yourself: “choose what?”
You may be perfectly satisfied with the answer, that’s your prerogative.
But be honest.
The pro life movement owns its position. It’s time for you to own yours.
