Neil Emanuel Cannata, 54, of Middletown, Connecticu­t died peacefully at home on September 28, 2021. Born in Middletown on April 30, 1967, Neil was the son of the late Nancy (Coco) and Emanuel Cannata. A graduate of Xavier High School, Neil continued his education at Greater New Haven State Technical College, and began a career in trucking after attending the New England Tractor Trailer Training School. He was employed by several different trucking companies with positions ranging from long hauling to local and regional deliveries. His most recent employment was with Ansonia based Coastal Carriers of Connecticu­t. Neil enjoyed participat­ing in a wide social circle and especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Neil was a classic car and Harley motorcycle enthusiast, and he took great pleasure in maintainin­g and driving his prized possession, a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, for the past 34 years. He also enjoyed music and was a percussion­ist in local bands for many years. Neil is survived by his sister, Attorney Linda Jean Latimer, her husband, G. Thomas Latimer, and nieces, Leah and Lauren Latimer, of Middletown, Connecticu­t. Neil is also survived by his uncle, Deacon Nicholas Cannata and his wife Bianca of Portland, Connecticu­t, his aunt Grace Alakel and her husband George of Salem, New Hampshire as well as many cousins. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be at the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
