Man arrested for firearms, narcotics possession in Middletown
MIDDLETOWN— A Rocky Hill man was arrested after police found an illegal firearm and narcotics during a traffic stop in Middletown on Wednesday.
Michael Jackson, 32, was charged with failure to obey a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia in a school zone, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within a school zone, sale of controlled substance, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, violation of pistol permit requirement, illegal purchase of a large capacity magazine, and risk of injury to a minor.
Charges were filed after a routine traffic stop in the area of Stack Street. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, probable cause was established ed to search Jackson and his motor vehicle, police said.
During that search, police found a Glock 19 handgun
with an extended 31-round magazine that was loaded with 25 rounds as well as 1 round in the chamber, just under 26 grams of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, multiple cellphones, and a large, undisclosed sum of money. A juvenile was found in Jackson’s vehicle during the stop.
Jackson is a convicted
felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. He was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license, police said.
Jackson was held on a $275,000 bond and presented in court on Thursday. He is due to appear in court on Nov. 19, according to the state judicial department’s website.
