Raymond Wright Jr.

-

Raymond “Ray” Wright Jr; a Stagehand for Broadway and resident of Milford, CT, died of natural causes on September 19, 2021, at the age of 63. Ray was the beloved son of his late parents Raymond Wright Sr. and Yoshiko Etsumoto Wright. Ray was one of seven siblings, he was predeceased by his sisters, Maryann Blais (Brad), Irene Wright-Marmora (Vincent) as well as his brothers, John Wright and Peter Wright. He is survived by his brother Donald Wright (Peggy), Glenn Wright, sister-in-law, Marcie Wright as well as his many nieces and nephews. Ray was born on April 5th, 1958, in New Rochelle, NY, and grew up on a farm on Foley Road which he looked back on fondly. He moved on from life on the farm to serve in the United States Marine Corps in the early 70s and was honorably discharged in 1979 as a Lance Corporal. Shortly after discharge, Ray began his career as a Theatrical Stagehand (Carpenter); a career which took him from Broadway, NY to the Las Vegas Strip, as an instrumental part of the backstage crew on many, many productions. Ray dedicated much of his life to his career and eventually ventured out on his own to start his own carpentry business, The Wright Carpentry Company, LLC. Broadway eventually called his name again years later and he found his way back to doing what he and his family had always had a passion for. Ray was an avid fisherman, often spending countless hours with a pole in his hand and telling his nieces and nephews stories next to any body of water he could find. They gave him the name of “Uncle Fishguts” for good reason. From fishing along the shores in Milford, CT to “Walter’s Pond” in Warwick, NY, Ray was never hard to find. Ray’s love for adventure also helped him find himself as a hang glider pilot alongside his brother, Peter. From the countless pranks he pulled to his humor and wit, there is much that will be forever missed. Ray loved his dogs the most. He was predeceased by his best friend, “Socks the dog” but he passed away with his dog “Scrappy-Doo” by his side.
