It is with great sadness that the family of June Hazel (Erich) Brown announces her passing on January 10, 2022. June was born on June 18, 1927 and was a lifelong New Haven area resident. She most recently resided at Elim Park in Cheshire. June was the wife of the late Edward J. Brown. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gladys Tolles Erich, and is predeceased by her sister Fern Thynell, and brother Bud Erich. June is survived by her children; Leslie Loehmann (Jack), and John Brown (Emily), and was predeceased by her daughter Carol Barbara Brown, son Paul Erich Brown, and grandson John B. Loehmann, Jr. She enjoyed being a loving Nana to 10 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Since birth, June spent her summers at Mansfield Grove on Long Island Sound in East Haven. The 94 summers spent at Mansfield Grove and Kelsey’s Island, both affectionately known to the family as “The Shore,” brought her countless wonderful memories. June met her future husband Ed as a teenager at The Shore, became an accomplished competitive swimmer with the Colony Swim Club coached by her father Herb “Wabba” Erich, oversaw the business aspects of the Erich Day Camp for many years, and hosted Happy Hours on her cottage deck at the end of days packed with family fun. She was known for entertaining her family and friends with stories about her life growing up at The Shore. Her family continues to make memories at this special place. June touched many people during her life and is genuinely loved by so many. She will be missed.
