Officer Diane Gonzalez, NHPD

On Monday, January 10th, 2022, Retired New Haven Police Officer Diane Gonzalez, 60 years of age, succumbed to her injuries that were sustained while on duty, September 9th 2008. Officer Gonzalez was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 8th, 1961 to the late Felipe and Arcadia Gonzalez. Diane was one of six children, three of which preceded her in death; Eliud, Jeannette and Marilyn Gonzalez. Diane proudly served the New Haven Police Department for 13 years, where she was honorably retired. She was well liked and respected by her peers and supervisors. Officer Gonzalez was known for her de-escalation tactics and the smiley face pin on her uniform that brought a smile to everyone she crossed paths with. Those who knew Diane knew how much she loved her fur babies Trouble, Daisy, Peanut and Mya. watching HGTV and listening to Marc Anthony. She had an infectious laugh, a quick wit and was always upbeat. She had a positive outlook on life and was a fighter until the very end. Officer Diane Gonzalez, a devoted mother and grandmother, is survived by her loving children Ramon Mora, Diane Mora Velez ( Johnny Velez), Kathleen Mora and her five grandchildren Jayden Carroll, Teyanna Carroll, Tyler Carroll, Dominic Velez and

Nathaniel Mora. She is also survived by her niece Kaisha Diaz (Richard Diaz), nephew Otilio Green III (Krystal Green) whom she raised as her own after her sister Jeanette’s passing and two Brothers Issac Gonzalez, Felipe Gonzalez Jr. Diane was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her brothers and sisters in blue.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon from 3:00-7:00 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. Masks are required for all in attendance. A graveside service and burial with department honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd. in New Haven Wednesday at 12:30 PM.
