College students earn honors

Ohio University

ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio University Russ College of Engineerin­g and Technology student Andrew Naccarato of Westbrook was named to the fall 2021 dean’s list.

Delaware Valley University

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Kyle McAuliffe of Middletown was named to the dean’s list at Delaware Valley University for the fall 2021 semester.

University of Maine

ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine recognized students for achieving dean’s list honors in the fall 2021 semester. To be eligible, each must have completed 12 or more credits in the semester and have earned a 3.50 or higher semester GPA.

Locals are: Grace Bradley of Chester; Augusta Wohlstrom of Clinton; Tyler Sheehy of Middletown;

Carlee Kobrock and Nate Michalski of Moodus; Nathan Lavoy of Portland; Isabella Amendola and Lauren Hickey of Westbrook.

Cedarville University

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Cedarville University student Eleanor Hinds from Higganum, who is majoring in broadcast, digital media, journalism, was named to the dean’s list for fall 2021. This recognitio­n requires the student to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Michael Wallace of East Haddam, who is majoring in industrial and innovative design, was named to the dean’s honor list. This recognitio­n requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Adelphi University

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Local students were named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at Adelphi University, which includes full-time students registered for 12 or more credits who have completed at least nine graded credits, and achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above for the semester. They are Sarah Gaetano of Clinton, Kaylene Koelle of Clinton and Jenna Masci of Moodus.

University of New England

BIDDEFORD/PORTLAND, Maine — Hannah Korper of Killingwor­th was named to the dean’s list for the 2021 fall semester at the University of New England. These individual­s have attained a GPA of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.

Loyola University

BALTIMORE, Md. — Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2021 dean’s list, which requires a student achieve a minimum quality-point average of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that they completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

Locals are Janae James, class of 2023, from Middletown; Julia Jenkins, class of 2023, from Essex; and Vanessa Stolstajne­r, class of 2025, from Cromwell.

Palmer College of Chiropract­ic

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Olivia Parmelee of Haddam was named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at Palmer College of Chiropract­ic.

Le Moyne College

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Le Moyne College named local students to its fall 2021 dean’s list, which requires students achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above. They are Emily Wescott, a senior biology major from Middletown; and Cailen Fienemann, a freshman English major from Portland.

Hamilton College

CLINTON, N.Y. — Ryan Mayhan of Middle Haddam was awarded a grant from the Steven Daniel Smallen Memorial Fund at Hamilton College. The fund is designed to encourage creativity

among Hamilton students by providing funds for projects displaying originalit­y, expressive­ness and imaginatio­n.

Mayhan is using the award to make a “Black Mirror”-inspired short-film with the themes of data collection, surveillan­ce, and the overuse of artificial intelligen­ce to tell a “chilling” story set in a “frightenin­gly plausible” near-future. Mayhan, a senior majoring in interdisci­plinary studies, is a graduate of Hillsdale High School.

Elon University

LEXINGTON, Va. — Andrew Lymm, a native of Middletown, was recently initiated into the Elon University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. Students initiated into the society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/profession­al students in the top 35 percent of their class, demonstrat­e leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the college’s ideals.

Fewer than 5 percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.
