Area students earn honors

Colgate University

HAMILTON, N.Y. — Colgate University students who receive a term grade-point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses during the fall 2021 semester earn the dean’s award with distinctio­n.

These local people s qualified: Gian Civitello, a political science major from Middletown and graduate of Xavier High School; Sophie Naylor, a geology major from Middletown and graduate of Middletown High School; as well as Justin Renk, a history major from Portland and graduate of Portland High School.

Northern Vermont University

JOHNSON and LYNDON, Vt. — Kiara Jacobs of Middletown, a student at Northern Vermont University, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2021 semester. Those who achieve between a 3.50 and 3.99 semester average are eligible.

Hofstra University

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Hofstra University student Patrick Dennis of Higganum excelled during the fall 2021 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list.

Eastern Connecticu­t State University

WILLIMANTI­C — Eastern Connecticu­t State University’s Theatre Department reopened the stage for the spring 2022 semester with “Sweet Flag.” Written and directed by Theatre Professor J.J. Cobb, the story follows the lives of women living in the Nebraska Territory in 1866.

Students involved in the production include Eric Roesler of Middletown, a sophomore majoring in Theatre. Roesler is a member of the stage crew.

Merrimack College

LEXINGTON, Va. — Christophe­r Miller, a native of East Hampton, was recently initiated into the Merrimack College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National

Leadership Honor Society in March.

Students must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/profession­al students in the top 35 percent of their class, demonstrat­e leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Palmer College of Chiropract­ic

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Amelia Gagner of Durham was named to the winter 2022 quarter dean’s list at Palmer College of Chiropract­ic’s Florida campus.

Nazareth College

BATON ROUGE, La. — Victoria Kelpen of East Hampton was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Kelpen was initiated at Nazareth College.

Dean College

FRANKLIN, Mass. — Dean College announces that Camron Watkins of East Haddam was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma honor societie for their academic achievemen­ts.

College of Our Lady of the Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. — More than 525 students were named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at College of Our Lady of the Elms. Among them are Cierra Brundage of Westbrook and Ayanna Helmedach of Middlefiel­d. To qualify, full-time students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher, without incomplete grades.

Pomfret School

POMFRET — Beaulisa Staff of Old Saybrook, among the class of 2023, was named to the winter 2021-22 high honors list at Pomfret School. Beaulisa earned a GPA of at least 3.670 and received no grade lower than a B+.

Hanley Ferrucci of Essex and Riley Millard of Chester achieved the gead of school’s list for attaining a GPA of 4.00 and receiving no grade lower than an A-.

Dava Dudek of Middletown and Kai Konstantin­o of Ivoryton were named to the honors list after earning a GPA of at least 3.330 and receiving no grade lower than a B.
