Louis Annino May 10, 2022

Louis “Lou” J. Annino of East Berlin, CT, and Clermont, FL, passed away into eternity on May 10, 2022, with his beloved family at his side.

Born and raised in Middletown, CT, he was the son of Louis J. Annino Sr. and Florence Rose Troy Annino. A streetwise self-made entrepreneur, Mr. Annino was the founder and owner of Access Transportation Solutions in Glastonbury until his retirement in 2015. In earlier years, he also operated Ambulances, Limousines, Taxi Cabs, and School buses throughout the greater Hartford area. He was the founding member and a past president of the Hartford Area Limousine Operators. He sat on various EMS Councils when Connecticut was developing its current EMS system. While he spent his entire adult life in different forms of transportation, his first passion always remained the safe Transportation of School children with special needs.

He sat on ad-hoc committees for the Department of Motor Vehicles which helped to develop many practices that govern the transportation of Connecticut's schoolchildren. His dedication to safe school transportation led to him being asked to serve as a State of Connecticut delegate for Special Needs Student transportation. Lou sat on the board of the National Congress on School Transportation in 2010 and 2015. With a passion for classic cars, Lou was a proud owner of a 1970 442 Olds “his baby,” which he kept in mint condition. He was an active member of the New England Oldsmobile Club and the National Oldsmobile Club of America.

Most importantly, Lou was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife Donna, his beloved daughters Holly Annino Green and husband Garfield of Clermont, FL; Brande Davidson and husband Lance of Vancouver, Canada, Sharlene Thomson and husband Gene Thomson of Cochrane, Canada, and stepson Guybert (Tig) Sirois of St. Joseph, Canada. His beloved granddaughter he called Pumpkin Makayla Madison Green of Clermont, FL, and grandsons Gunnar Foster and Hunter Thomson of Cochrane, Canada, and his loyal dogs Chumlee and Bailey. Lou leaves behind his only sibling John Annino and his wife Jo-Anne of Newington, CT, and extended family throughout the USA and Canada. Also remembered are his dearest and closest friends Pamela Myjak of Rockfall, CT and Donald Procko of Mason's Island Mystic, CT.

It was Lou's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Autism Speaks Organization or Shriner's Hospitals.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 9 a.m. from the CoughlinLastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sebastian Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 18th from 5 to 7 p.m.
