Premier brass quintet coming to Middletown Oct. 19

- STAFF REPORTS

MIDDLETOWN — The 55-year-old Greater Middletown Concert Association will bring the acclaimed Premier Brass Quintet to town Oct. 19 for an uplifting concert of swing, Broadway musicals, ragtime and contemporary popular music.

It will be held at 7 p.m. at the Wadsworth Mansion, 140 Wadsworth St.

The Premier Brass Quintet is a “dynamic, traditional brass quintet using diverse types of music,” according to a press release. Based out of western Massachusetts, the band has “delighted” audiences throughout southern New England for nearly 20 years, it said.

Members have had extensive careers as freelance performers, musical educators and music clinicians, nationally and internationally, the news release said. “They want to join the audience in enjoying a concert of the grandeur, brilliance and beauty that a brass quintet can provide,” the release continued.

“We are excited about bringing the Premier Brass Quintet with their concert of uplifting music selections, as we again have an October performance during more normal times,” Barbara Arafeh, president of the Greater Middletown Concert Association, said in a prepared statement, referring to the pandemic.

Tickets ($30 for adults) may be bought or reserved by calling 860343-7555, emailing bmwa@aol.com or navigating to GreaterMiddletownConcerts.org. Student tickets are also available at a special price.

They may also be purchased by mail by sending a check or credit card number to the Greater Middletown Concert Association, P.O. Box 2622, Middletown, CT 06457.

A grant from the Middletown Commission on the Arts is contributing to this performance.
