Mary Casey

-

Mary (Brady) Casey, 87, of Middletown, wife of the late Robert (Bob) Casey, was reunited with the love of her life, Bob, on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Russell) Brady, she graduated from Bishop McDonald High School in 1954. In 1957, she married Bob and in 1964 they moved to Middletown, CT with their daughters and later had their son. In Middletown, she became involved in various community activities. She was a long-time communicant at St. Pius X Church and involved in its Rosary Altar Society and the St. Pius Annual Church Fair through the Crafty Crew which created fun items for sale in support of the fair through the years.

She had a beautiful singing voice and was involved in the church choir as well as community productions (e.g. Mame) through the years. Mary was friendly, kind and gracious and could talk to anyone. She was strong, independent, caring and curious. Her love for family was at the center of everything she did.

She loved cooking and would read recipes at night for relaxation when her husband was traveling. Food meant family and love and she insisted that her family be home for holiday meals. The ocean was a much-loved destination and she spent many a day with family at the beaches in Cape Cod and later in nearby Rhode Island. Mary and Bob belonged to the Irish Club in Glastonbury and loved to step-dance. A later visit to Ireland connected them with relatives who remembered their families and shared fond memories. She was the heart and soul of her family and her passing is the end of an era.

Prior to her retirement, Mary had been employed by Cromwell Crest and The Cigna Retirement and Investment Services Company.

She is survived by her daughters, Eileen Daly and her husband Shawn of West Hartford, Joanne Foreman of Cromwell, and her son, Robert R. Casey and his wife, Maura, of Wilton as well as six grandchildren, Shannon, Matthew, Michael, Caroline, Peter and Brian.

Mary is also survived by her sisters, Josephine (Robert) McCarthy and Margaret (Edward) Maney and their families as well as by the families of her brothers, John and Thomas Brady, both of whom predeceased her.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church, Westfield Street, Middletown. Prior to the service, friends and family may gather from 9:30-10:30 at Biega Funeral Home at 3 Silver Street, Middletown.
