Concetta “Connie” DiCarlo

-

Concetta “Connie” DiCarlo, 83, of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the devoted wife of 61 years to Benedetto “Benny” DiCarlo. Connie was born in Cercemaggiore, Province of Campo Basso, Italy on June 21, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Jenny Spina DiCarlo. She and her family immigrated to America when Connie was 16 years old. She began working at a clothing factory for many years with her mother until returning to Italy and marrying her husband, Benny. They later returned to America in 1962 and began starting a family. After the birth of her two sons, Connie embraced the role of a stay-at-home mother. When her sons got older, she began working in the deli department at Stop & Shop in North Haven for many years. She enjoyed trips to the casino, playing her daily numbers, cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. Connie and her husband raised their children in a close-knit neighborhood, their house, backyard and Italian style basement was open to all. Their mentality was “the more the merrier” and “doors were open to everyone”. Their backyard parties became a staple in the neighborhood, especially their annual lamb roast and Palm Sunday with family; everyone looked forward getting together at Connie and Benny’s house. Connie will be remembered for her incredible meals, whether it be her amazing Sunday sauce, homemade pasta and meatballs and the list goes on. However, her greatest joy was preparing meals and spending time with her grandchildren who she loved unconditionally. Beloved mother of John DiCarlo (Kris), Steven B.

DiCarlo (Leigh). Loving Nonnie of Nicholas, Macey, Gianna, and Chase DiCarlo. Sister of Anthony DiCarlo and the late Vincent DiCarlo. Sister-in-law of MaryAnn DiCarlo and the late Patricia DiCarlo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their neighbors and extended family, Kit and Tom Dunbar, Mel and Joe DelVecchio, Darlene and Greg Smith, Angie and Emil Mattei, for all the care and compassion they provided to Connie over the years.
