Benjamin P. Madura, Jr.

Benjamin Peter Madura, Jr., age 81, of Somers, and formerly of Seymour, entered into rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to the late Helen (Kashuba) Madura. He was born in Derby on March 14, 1942, the son of the late Benjamin P. and Matylda (Latka) Madura. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps as a CPL from 19591963. Ben, “Butchie”, enjoyed his career at Sikorsky Aircraft as an engineer until his retirement. He was a skilled craftsman who specialized in woodworking, known to craft his own furniture and other items. He was a fan of UCONN sports, the New York Giants and Yankees. He was an avid golfer and after his retirement he and his wife moved to Sunset Beach, NC, where he could continue his passion for golf. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family. He is survived by his 5 daughters Melissa Massicotte (Stephen), Patricia Virzi, Kristy Lombardi (Robert), Michelle Ratineri (Christopher), Jessica Levine (Adam), his 10 grandchildren: Ryan Massicotte (Shannon), Jenna Massicotte, Simone Virzi, Jocelyn Colon (Christina), Nick, Ashley and Olivia Lombardi, Cayden Ratineri, Natalie and Aidan Levine, his 2 great-grandchildren Carter and Alexandra Colon, his brother Robert Madura (Vi), his companion Caroline Tracz, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may greet Ben’s family on Friday, June 2 from 4 to 7 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, CT 06418.
