Modesto, California - Naomi Darlene Davis Holcombe, aged 94, April 21, 1930 - April 30, 2024, Modesto, California. Naomi was born in Wilson, Oklahoma, to Archie and Ellie Davis. She passed away in Modesto, California, surrounded by her family. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, Grammy, aunt, and friend to many. In 1936, she moved to Ceres, CA, with her family. She attended schools in Ceres and Modesto. She met her husband, Alfred Leon Holcombe, in 1944, and they were married in 1947. They had three children: Gary (Annette) Holcombe of Modesto, Keith Holcombe of the Philippines, and Bonnie (Gary) Sellers of Modesto. She also had two grandsons, Evan (Shannon) Sellers and Ryan (Sarah) Sellers, all of Modesto. She left behind her children Keith and Bonnie, son-inlaw Gary, daughter-in-law Annette, grandsons, their wives, and brother James Davis. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Alfred, and son Gary, her parents, sisters, brother, and many nieces and nephews. Naomi’s love of God and her family is what made her smile. She was always planning family gatherings to keep her large extended family together. She never met a new person without asking, “What church do you go to?” and then inviting them to her church. She attended 6th and G Assembly of God as a child and was married there. Later, her family went to Calvary Temple, where she became the church secretary. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and children’s church leader at Calvary Temple. She then attended Neighborhood Church and Modesto Covenant Church. She also was an admit clerk at a rest home in Alameda, CA. She and Alfred enjoyed traveling, having Bible Studies in their home, and planning yearly camping trips with her family. She enjoyed cooking for people, entertaining, sewing, and crossword puzzles. Naomi and Alfred came out of retirement to take care of their grandsons. They were a big influence in their lives. She will be missed, but we are all rejoicing knowing she has finished the race and is at home sitting at the feet of Jesus with all her loved ones who went before her.
