School to hold 2nd annual symposium
Perkiomen School, 200 Seminary St., Pennsburg, will host its second annual symposium, “Disrupting Education: Enlightening College Admission” at 9 a.m. Dec. 2.
Disrupting the perception that student success comes solely from highly selective pathways, Perkiomen School has gathered industry experts from higher and secondary education to focus on a topic that has been in the headlines and affects educators, administrators, parents, students, and counselors. This year “Operation Varsity Blues” made headlines as a complex bribing and cheating scandal was uncovered within the world of selective college admission.
The keynote address will be given by David Burge, vice president for enrollment management at George Mason University.
The symposium includes a panel discussion with leaders in both education and industry. Along with Burge, panelists include Stacey Cunitz, founder and director of Blue Moon Educational Consulting and director of college counseling at The Crefeld School, Philadelphia; Ian P. Harkness, director of college counseling at Malvern Preparatory School; and Cornell LeSane, vice president for enrollment and dean of admissions at Allegheny College and board director of the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
The day will also include break out discussion groups during lunch, with opportunities to share ideas and perspectives from both the professional and personal side of the college admission process.
Registration is $100, lunch and snacks included. Early bird registration saves $20, if registered by Nov. 15. Go to www.perkiomen.org/disruptors for information and to register.
