South Whitehall Township www.zakiyasmalls.com
D.O.B.: 1982
Education: Fordham University B.S. Communications Occupation: Business Owner Qualifications: I am a Business
Owner, Volunteer, Philanthropist and Mother. Over the last several years, I built a commercial cleaning business from the ground up. I focused on innovative strategies, smart decisions, accountability, and fiscal management.
Response: I think our major issue is the county budget. We are currently facing a 7 million maybe at this point 8 million dollar deficit. The budgets that keep being passed are not fiscally responsible. They keep increasing expenditures without looking at what monies are coming in first. We all know you can’t keep spending money without taking into account what your budget is. That is not responsible fiscal management. As commissioners, our job is to approve contracts and service providers. We evaluate what is working and what needs improvement.
