Man found at park dies of gunshot wounds

A man found in Allentown’s Trout Creek Park died of gunshot wounds Saturday afternoon, Allentown police Capt. Alicia Conjour said.

Police responded to the shooting about 2:30 p.m. and discovered a man on the road suffering from multiple wounds. He was then transporte­d to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he died.

Police are not releasing the name of the man until his family is notified.

Allentown police, the Lehigh County district attorney’s office and Lehigh County coroner’s office are investigat­ing the shooting, which Conjour said was a homicide.

Conjour said police don’t believe the public is in any danger.

State police, which responded to the two-vehicle crash at mile marker 3.3, near the Route 22 interchang­e, said the driver of the car crossed into the opposing lane of travel.

The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. as the sedan was traveling north in the southbound lane, state police said. An ambulance from Wind Gap EMS, which was traveling south in the left lane, swerved into the grass, while the sedan did a 180-degree rotation, police said.

The sedan’s driver was killed, police said, and that person’s identity is being withheld until family is notified. No one in the ambulance was injured.

State police at Belfast is investigat­ing the accident. Police did not name the ambulance company in a news release about the accident.

All four were charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and other counts.

Police said gunfire erupted shortly before midnight on the block and two women were hit, while three men fled. Mistler, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman was treated at Geisinger Community Medical Center.
