LGBTQ advocacy against gun violence event planned

Three LGBTQ celebritie­s are teaming up to headline a virtual event to raise awareness and funds to support LGBTQ advocacy against gun violence. Peter Paige from “Queer as Folk,” Kevin McHale from “Glee,” and Nicole Maines from “Supergirl” will join the executive directors of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Guns Down America for an online event July 9. The virtual event proceeds benefit Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Guns Down America.

Face coverings must be worn by all attendees at all times.

Guided walks will be offered at 9 a.m. every Wednesday in July. Hikes will cover different parts of the property each week. The natural history features at Kettle Creek will be discussed. Cost is $5 per person and registrati­on is required and limited. Sturdy footwear is recommende­d and masks are required.

The bureau is also accepting appointmen­ts for Allentown residents who are uninsured or underinsur­ed only for sexually transmitte­d disease testing /treatment. Preference is given to symptomati­c patients.
