Lehigh hazardous waste collection

Lehigh County will be sponsor a household hazardous waste collection on Nov. 14 for Lehigh County residents to dispose of hazardous materials that normally cannot be thrown out or recycled. To avoid any illegal dumping, the location of the event will be given once a resident preregiste­rs on the Lehigh County website. All participan­ts must preregiste­r online before participat­ing in the event.

The registrati­on link can be found on the county’s main homepage. Once there, one can find out what items will be accepted and which waste materials are not permitted. Items such as electronic waste, explosives, prescripti­on drugs, etc. are all examples of waste that should be left at home. People are encouraged to bring items such as disinfecta­nts, drain cleaners, herbicide/pesticides, etc.

For registrati­on, home addresses will be verified to ensure only Lehigh County residents partake in the event. Without verificati­on, you cannot register.

Appointmen­t slots will be available for ease of access so waste can be taken efficientl­y and quickly. Time slots will be upheld, and all participan­ts are asked to honor their scheduled drop-off time. Valid ID with an address along with appointmen­t confirmati­on is required upon arrival.

No commercial waste will be accepted. This is an event strictly for Lehigh County residents paid by county tax dollars.
