Man charged after standoff
A North Whitehall Township man was charged with threatening his wife with a gun while barricaded in his home for four hours early Friday morning.
Tyrone P. Steiner, 64, of the 3300 block of Fairland Drive, faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned Friday before District Judge Jacob Hammondandsent to Lehigh County Jail under $10,000 bail.
According to state police:
Authorities were called at 2:08 a.m. to Steiner’s Fairland Drive homefor reports of a domestic incident. He assaulted his wife and threatened her with a gun, but the woman was able to safely leave the home.
The state police Special Emergency Response Team arrived and set up a perimeter around the home when Steiner refused to surrender. He eventually came out and was taken into custody at 6:37 a.m.
Neither state police or Steiner were hurt during the standoff.
