STEM scholarships available

-

Students enrolled or declaring a major in one of 25 STEM programs at Lehigh Carbon Community College can get up to $5,000 in scholarship funds through a grant from the National Science Foundation. The Scholarships in STEM program is designed to support students with financial need who would like to pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In addition to the scholarship funds, students in the program will be able to participate in activities related to their area of study, receive support services to prepare them for a bachelor’s degree and a career in STEM, work with faculty mentors and create a portfolio of work that can be used to document their goals and progress when applying to university programs.

Eligible students can receive up to $2,500 per semester in scholarships each year.

Students will participate as a cohort in structured activities including one-onone mentoring with STEM faculty, orientation, monthly meetings featuring integrated learning labs, mathematics support, student-facilitated study groups, presentations by professionals, workshops, field trips, STEMClubandjob/ transfer fairs.

Students must meet eligibility criteria that include being a full-time student in eligible STEM programs, demonstrate financial need and show academic potential or ability. Students can major in degree programs including biology, chemical technology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, physics, computer science, drafting and design, and various technology fields.

To apply, students must complete the application, which includes a short essay. Applications are being accepted for the spring 2021 semester. For information, contact Deepika Khilnaney at dkhilnaney@lccc. edu or go to www.lccc.edu/ tuition-financial-aid/scholarships/s-stem-scholarship.
