Earl R. Schlegel, 94, of South Whitehall Twp., passed away on Thursday December 31, 2020 at Lehigh Center, Macungie. He was the loving husband of the late Betty Jane (Horner) Schlegel, who died in 2016. He and Betty shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Roy N. and Rosa O. (Abel) Schlegel. Earl was an Army veteran, proudly serving during WWII. He was the owner/operator of the former Earl's Esso Service Station in Allentown. He also worked for various other auto ser vice stations in the Allentown area. He was a Master Mason with the Allentown Greenleaf Lodge. Earl will be lovingly remembered by his sons Bruce D. (Jane) of Breinigsvi­lle, Gary E. (Virginia) of Catasauqua; daughters, Annette Young (Kenneth) of Coopersbur­g, Linda Dunn (Shaun) of Catasauqua; sister Elizabeth, wife of the late Martin Landau. He was a loving grandfathe­r and will be deeply missed by Thomas (companion Lindsay) and Kimberly Schlegel, Jennifer and Rebecca Young, Connor and Cole Dunn, step grandchild­ren, Stephen (Michelle) Levene, Stephanie Little (Robert) as well as step great grandchild­ren, Crystal, Dakota, Morgan Levene, Kayla and Ashley Little.
