Born in Hanover Township, Sara was the only daughter of the late Luther O. and Thelma M. (Gibbon) Heckman. After graduating in 1952 from Catasauqua High School, Sara worked as a teller at the former Lehigh National Bank, Catasauqua until her marriage to Bob. She then began her career of a lifetime; full time Mom to Scott, Timothy, Todd and Heidi. As Bob worked hard to grow his dental practice, Sara worked right next to him as a receptionist after sending the children off to school. After working hard, she and Bob were able to enjoy the fruits of their labors with travel to Europe and Hawaii. After Bob's untimely death in 1982, Sara became Mom and Dad to her children. She was a life member of the Whitehall Woman's Club where she had served as Chaplain for many years. She was a member of the Red Hatter's, Senior Citizen's Group, and Golden Ager's of Saint Elizabeth, all of Whitehall. Several years after Bob's death, Sara was blessed to have met Al and her family grew with the addition of two more children. Sara and Al enjoyed traveling abroad and within the United States with family and friends.
