Trump should seek pardon from Pence

If President Trump were smart, he would leave office so that Vice President Mike Pence could pardon him.

Successful efforts to remove him under provisions of the 25th Amendment or by means of impeachment would convey to Pence, as the new president, the ability to pardon Trump.

This would also be true if Trump were to simply resign.

It’s not likely the Supreme Court would allow Trump to pardon himself, but don’t expect Pence to have the courage and character needed to not pardon Trump.

The best option for the sake of our republic would be to allow Trump to complete his term so that we can put him in jail for the 20 years that a conviction for sedition under 18 US Code 2384 permits.
