Freedom’s Roeder on Big 33 coaching staff; no Valley players on roster

- By Eric F. Epler

One of the nation’s premier all-star events is set to return during Memorial Day weekend. The Big 33 Football Classic, pitting Pennsylvania vs. Maryland, was not contested last season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision interrupted a history that began in 1958, but the “Super Bowl of High School football” is scheduled for May 31 at Central Dauphin’s Landis Field. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania roster was released by officials for the Pa. Football Coaches Association, which oversees and operates the event. Senior players are listed by position, with school, height, weight and college pick, where applicable.

No players from the Lehigh Valley were selected, but Freedom coach Jason Roeder was named to the Pennsylvania coaching staff.
