2,840 additional cases, deaths and hospitalizations are slightly down
The state Department on Health on Saturday reported 2,840 additional coronavirus cases.
The seven-day moving average of newly reported cases was 2,473, up a few cases from 2,470 a week ago.
To date, there have been 964,296 infections statewide since the start of the pandemic.
Deaths
Overall: 43 compared with 40 on Friday. The seven-day moving average of deaths per day is 37, compared with 45 a week ago.
Senior care: None compared with 39 on Friday. That brings the total to 12,754, accounting for 51.9% of the state’s 24,573 deaths.
Hospitalizations
There were 1,442 people hospitalized as of midday Saturday compared with 1,463 Friday. Of those, 177 were on ventilators, and 307 were in ICU beds.
Testing
There were 10,509 test results reported Saturday, with 20.1% of them positive, compared with 18.6% on Friday.
The overall positive test rate is 17.2% since the state’s first cases were reported March 6 of last year.
Vaccinations
Reports from the state and Philadelphia health departments show that 3.99 million vaccine doses have been administered so far, with 236,667 of those in the Lehigh Valley.
The state is inoculating an average of 84,000 people per day.
Lehigh Valley
Cases: 211 additional case reports, with 108 in Lehigh County, 103 in Northampton County. That brings the total to 59,792.
Deaths: Five new deaths (one in Lehigh County, and four in Northampton County), compared with one the day before. That brings the total to 1,448 (788 in Lehigh, and 660 in Northampton).
