LCCC provides COVID-19 grants
Lehigh Carbon Community
College students who have been impacted by COVID-19 will have access to grants through the federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. Students who have faced unexpected educational expenses or financial hardship related to the pandemic can apply for these grants.
Examples of covered expenses include tuition, computer and software purchases, internet access fees, books and supplies. In addition, grants can also assist with expenses such as food, housing and utility costs, transportation costs, child care and health care.
To apply, complete the online application found on the myLCCC portal. Click on Apply for Scholarships under My Finances in the Launchpad on the left side of the screen. Or go to www.LCCC.edu/scholarships. Students can apply only once for a grant. Funding is limited and is not guaranteed. Students must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen to qualify and be enrolled in the semester indicated on the application.
LCCC is prioritizing students with exceptional financial need as exhibited on the FAFSA. Funding will be awarded on a firstcome, first-served basis. Grants will not count toward the Estimated Financial Assistance, and financial need as determined by the FAFSA will not be a factor in award amounts.
For information, contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@ mymail.lccc.edu or call 610-7991133.
Approximately 2,000 volunteers are needed to fill positions on 22 committees, including leaderboards, marshals, merchandise, corporate hospitality, course evacuation, admissions, and the 19th Hole. Early submission of the application gives volunteers a better chance of being assigned to one of their three committee preferences. Interested volunteers should go to www. usga.org/content/usga/homepage/championships/2022/ senior-open-volunteers.html.
A volunteer commitment consists of working four shifts ranging from five to six hours each throughout the championship and a requirement to purchase a uniform package for $95 plus tax. The volunteer uniform package includes two golf shirts, a logoed hat, a Corkcicle water bottle, a commemorative lapel pin, and a volunteer credential, valid for all seven days of the championship week.
Volunteers will have access to the volunteer hospitality tent on the days they are working. This tent will serve as volunteer headquarters, and the USGA will provide complimentary food, snacks and beverages throughout the week.
