Robert Frank Zalokar, 90, passed away on Aug. 31, 2021 in Macungie, PA. He was born May 6, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to his parents Frank and Mary (Zadnik) Zalokar. He attended Collinwood High School in Cleveland, OH and received a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g from General Motors Institute in 1954 after writing a Bachelor Thesis. Bob married Aldonna Blaskevica and started their life together in August 1953. Bob started his career at Cleveland Diesel in Cleveland and moved to Mack Trucks in 1959 in the Research Department at the Mack Engine and Transmissi­on plant in Plainfield, NJ. Bob moved to

Allentown in 1970 and was responsibl­e for building the Engineerin­g Developmen­t and Test Center, now the Customer Center and Mack Museum. After 30 years,

Bob retired as Executive Vice President, Product and Engineerin­g. He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and served as

a Trustee for the Allentown Osteopathi­c Hospital, now St. Luke's, and as a Trustee for his college, now Kettering University. Bob and Donna had six children, Laura Ann and (Lee) Fetzer, Debra Lynn Storm, Patrice

Marie and (Kevin) Hill, Barbara Lee and (Greg) Jones, Lisa Ellen and (Matt) von Nieda and Robert Zalokar, Jr.; 14 grandchild­ren, Lynn and (Mike) Weller, Ellen and (Kevin) McMonagle, Anna and (Weston) Garton, Sarah and (Chad) Felts, Ryan and (Tara) Hill, Andrew and Lukas Hill, Sam and Teddy Jones, Olivia, Simon, and Isaac von Nieda, Julia and Aiden Zalokar; great grandchild­ren, Maybelle, Clara and Gabriel Weller, Lilly, Jolene, Hank, and George McMonagle, Zachary and Garrett Hill, and

Leo Felts. Bob and Donna shared their married lives together for 68 years, traveling the U.S., playing golf and bridge, reading, and after retirement, spent their winters in Green Valley, AZ. Their biggest pleasure was their family and the many gatherings at their home on the side of South Mountain. Bob was successful in everything he tried, writing, pastel painting, model trains, and storytelli­ng to his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Sept. 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home,

P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the Alzheimer's Associatio­n in Bob's memory.
