VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS needs volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age-appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on the organization’s website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals. AMERICAN RED CROSS PA RIVERS CHAPTER,
Allentown, needs disaster health services volunteers to provide health-related services and secure resources to meet the health needs of people affected by disaster and of the workforce providing disaster relief. CHRISTKINDLMARKT, SteelStacks in Southside Bethlehem, needs many volunteers for a variety of tasks at its newly expanded holiday festival. MILLER-KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER, Allentown, needs volunteers at its Cedar Crest Donor Center to give out snacks with a smile while monitoring donors to be sure they are doing well after donating. The two shifts available are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, or 7:30-11 a.m. Mondays. This does require a1 ½-hour orientation and free Pennsylvania state clearances. No community service hours. MORAVIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Nazareth, needs curatorial interns to work directly with the curator of collections to help catalogue and inventory the museum’s collection and may include researching upcoming exhibitions and or writing exhibit panels and labels. Interns who have an interest in public history and prior research experience will be trained to use the PastPerfect collection management software. NORTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTER, Bethlehem, needs Spanish speaking tutors to assist students during its AfterSchool Homework Club 3-5 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. Students range in age from six to 13 years old. All volunteers must complete background checks, wear face masks and be vaccinated for COVID-19. THE SANCTUARY AT HAAFSVILLE, Breinigsville, needs assistance with administrative tasks in the cat and dog no-kill shelter. The position will interact with volunteers and members of the public daily.
