Bernard J. Story, Jr., 91, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday November 26, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. He was born in Bethlehem, the son of Bernard and Cili (Judt) Story. He was the loving husband of the late Eleanor Derrico Story for 59 years before her passing in 2010. He was a 1948 graduate of Liberty High School and he attended University of Pennsylvan­ia from 1964 to 1967. After briefly working at the Bethlehem Steel Corporatio­n he joined the Bethlehem Fire Department in 1952. Bernie was appointed Bethlehem's first Fire Commission­er in 1976. He retired in 1979 and then joined Western Electric until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. A good athlete in his youth, he played basketball and

softball in the Lehigh Valley City Leagues, was the Second Flight Champion of the Bethlehem City Golf League, and was particular­ly proud of his hole-in-one. Bernie dedicated his life to his family and will be sadly missed.

View, Delaware, and Louanne Mooney and her husband Francis of Memphis, TN; eleven grandchild­ren, Christophe­r, Katie, Toni, Michael, Fran, Gina, Allison, Alisa, Niki, Alexandra and Danny and fifteen greatgrand­children. He was predecease­d by his brothers William and Frank and his sister Cecilia Kelleher. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at

11:00 A.M. on Friday December 3, 2021 at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd.

Bethlehem, PA 18018, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass in church. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
