Kutztown University wins Downbeat Student Music Awards
Kutztown University’s Rock Ensemble I won two DownBeat Student Music Awards and a singer in the ensemble, Delacey Lora, has been named Best Singer in pop, rock and blues category. The ensemble won in both the “live” and “asynchronous” categories. These are the seventh, eighth and ninth
awards for the for the program, the first time the KU ensemble has won three awards in a single year and was also named the winner in each category.
DownBeat is the premier and longest-running jazz and commercial music magazine in the world.
The ensemble is under the direction of Kevin Kjos, director of Commercial Music Studies.
The DownBeat Student Music Awards were founded in 1976. It is considered one of the most prestigious awards for musicians, music industry professionals and music educators who compete on for the award on an international level. This award has often been called the “Student Grammy.”
Lehigh Valley Passport to History
Lehigh Valley Passport to History will be hosting Passport to History Month a celebration of the sites, stories, and communities that bring Lehigh Valley history to life.
Historic sites will open their doors in July with free admission, tours, activities and programs for all ages. Sites will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
