Lawrence J. DiPasquale
MMC Lawrence J. DiPasquale passed away peacefully at home on Saturday,
May 28, 2022, with his wife by his side. Born in Allentown in 1941, he was the son of Pasquale and Gloria (Recchia) DiPasquale. He was the loving husband of Karen (Fisher) DiPasquale for 60 years. Lawrence “Larry” graduated from Allentown High
School in 1959.
After graduation, Larry joined the Navy Reserves where he retired after 39 years of service with a rank of
Chief Petty Officer. He served active duty on the destroyer, USS Purdy, during the Cuban Crisis. He was Command Chief in the Engineering Department at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for many years. After retiring from the Navy, he became national president of the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association in Falls Church VA. He was also president of his ship’s reunions for 14 years. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, Honorary 1st Defenders, the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, the USS
Purdy Association, the US Navy Memorial, and the VFW. Larry was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In his civilian life,
Larry owned, operated, and retired from Valley Upholstery.
In his spare time, Larry loved riding his Yamaha motorcycle with his wife, Karen. He loved Sunday brunch trips and vacations on his bike. But the most special time for Larry was spending weekends at the cabin at Lake Wallenpaupack with his son, Darin, and grandsons, Alex and Andrew. He especially looked forward to taking the family on the boat to the Boat House for brunch. Larry and Karen loved having holiday parties for all their friends and family. He especially loved having the Army and Navy football game party.
Survivors: wife, Karen; son, Darin and wife, Wendy (Saeger); grandsons, Alex and Andrew; sister, Andrea Walker. He was preceded in death by parents and son, Craig.
Services A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 6th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. A viewing will be held at 9:30 AM at church prior to Mass. Private Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC. (www.stephensfuneral.com)
