Programs at Jacobsburg
Jacobsburg Environmental Center, 400 Belfast Rd., Bushkill Township, will offer the following programs:
Hike for Health: 5:30-7 p.m. June 8. These guided monthly hikes are 2 to 2.5 miles over uneven terrain. Dogs welcome to hike on a leash. Meet at the Visitor Center flagpole at 400 Belfast Road. Native Gardens for Small Spaces: 4-5:30 p.m. June 18. The program will focus on species that are appropriate for smaller sized gardens. Non-native plants that can become invasive and should be avoided will also be covered. Bring water, a snack, wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
Moth Magic: 8:30-10 p.m. June 18. Join local moth enthusiast Steve Kloiber as we search for moths and other insects of the night. This program is best for families with children ages 5 and up. Bring a flashlight.
Archery for Families: 9-11 a.m. June 25. Join other families for an introduction to the sport of archery. All equipment provided. This program is for families with children ages 11 and up. Register all family members who will be participating as spaces are limited.
Archery for Adults: 1-3 p.m. June 25. Join other adults for an introduction to the sport of archery. All equipment provided. This program is for adults only. Register all group members who will be participating as spaces are limited.
Fascinating Fungi: 1-2 p.m. June 25. Join Dorothy Smullen, a 48-year member of the New Jersey Mycological Association as she shows us specimens, talks with us about the importance of fungi in ecosystems, modern science and even in architecture.
