Have fun doing crafts or playing games and help to keep the kids with special needs stay safe at an exciting summer camp at Camelot for Children, Allentown. Volunteer Buddies are needed for one day or as often as you can, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday June 20 - July 29. Teen buddies, adults, and medical personnel needed. Volunteer on the construction site in Allentown with Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley — work is weather dependent and labor intensive. Help turn tongues blue for the 35th Annual Blueberry Festival on July 16 and 17, hosted by Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. Two shifts per day are available and volunteers get a T-shirt and free piece of pie or ice cream scoop. Spots also available for setup during the week before and market-to-go/ cleanup during the week after. Minimum age 16 or 15 with adult. Pick up meals from one of eight sites in the Lehigh Valley and deliver to home-bound seniors and adults with disabilities. Deliveries start at 10 a.m. weekdays and take about 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete. Full directions and pre-delivery training provided by Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Volunteer drivers are needed to take elderly or disabled people grocery shopping and/or medical appointments. Mileage reimbursement available and excess automobile insurance provided by ShareCare Faith in Action. Must submit to a criminal background check and attend an orientation training. YLEAD is a leadership and service program for Lehigh Valley high school students (entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall) hosted by Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. Participants in the program develop critical leadership skills while working to support nonprofit organizations through service projects. Sessions will held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11-15 or July 25-29.
