Women’s fashion boutique pops up at Promenade Shops

-

Sweet Diehl Boutique, a women’s fashion boutique founded by local entrepreneur Andrea Diehl, held a grand opening Saturday in the brandnew Promenade Pop Up Shop at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. Sweet Diehl Boutique will be located next to Carter’s and Oshkosh B’gosh.

“The new pop-up location will be Andrea’s second area storefront,” says Natalia Stezenko, senior general manager for The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. “Open seven days a week, guests will find tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, outerwear, accessories and more in the store, introducing them to a new brand in the center’s convenient pop-up location.”

“At Sweet Diehl Boutique, we understand that fashion is not one-size-fitsall. That’s why we handpick a diverse range of styles that cater to every body type, ensuring that our customers feel confident and beautiful in everything they wear,” says Diehl. “Whether someone is petite, curvy, or somewhere in between, we have something special just for them.”

“We are proud to support local entrepreneurs like Andrea, and we invite others in the community who would like to test the waters with their own brick-and-mortar location to experience the Promenade Pop Up Shop as well,” says Krista Berardelli, marketing director and business development manager for the center.

The new Promenade Pop Up Shop is a dedicated 1,500-square-foot space that gives local entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their retail brands. New at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, the Promenade Pop Up opportunity will help fledgling retailers expand their reach into a temporary brick-and-mortar space at the shopping center while also introducing the community to a growing roster of new businesses.

New tenant for former Sears building

A flooring chain store will open in the former Sears location at Whitehall Mall, a mall official confirmed Monday.

A spokesperson for Washington Prime Group, owner of the shopping center in Whitehall Township, said Floor & Decor will be moving into the location.

The Atlanta-based Floor & Decor is a specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring, she said. It is expected to open early next year.

The Atlanta-based retailer offers flooring, as well as tools for hard-surface flooring projects, according to its website.

Demolition on the former Sears site began in late June. Built in 1966, it was one of the last remaining Sears in the Lehigh Valley.

Sears was in a two-level, 212,850square foot building for over 50 years.

It closed three years ago.

Historic Norco restaurant on America’s Best Restaurants

Hanoverville Roadhouse will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants. They will be filming on location from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

America’s Best Restaurants is a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently owned restaurants. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an on-camera interview with owner Mark Dennis about the restaurant’s place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Dennis, who owns a construction company, went to bartending school as a teen to have a fun side job for extra cash. He managed a couple of bars in Los Angeles before moving back to the area, eventually starting the construction business but always bartending on the side.

He bought Hanoverville Roadhouse a little over five years ago, and the construction background came in handy as the 200-year-old building needed a big facelift. Three months after back surgery, and during the downtime for restaurants during the pandemic, he renovated it on his own, though he admits that his “mother came in and painted.”

Due to a developer changing the traffic pattern in the area, Dennis says a lot of people think he is closed. He wants his experience on the Roadshow episode to help let people know he is still in business.

“I just want to get the word out there that we’re still here, and where we’re at,” he says, adding that he knows the restaurant is hard to get to. “It’s very frustrating.”

Dennis preserves the town’s local history by purchasing memorabilia from now-closed attractions. Items

from the Boyd Theatre, the sign and front doors of the Newberg Inn, and prints of historic Bethlehem are all on display in the restaurant. Additionally, the eatery is said to be haunted.

“We just had a film crew here last September for an episode for a paranormal show,” he says, adding that the show Ghost Hunters paid a visit when it was under the previous owner. “We’ve caught things on tape. People experience things when they’re here for dinner.”

Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the reuben pierogies, a recipe that Dennis says he came up with in his sleep, and the best-seller butter rum chicken, which has pineapple and cashews in a butter rum sauce.

When she’s not painting, Dennis’ septuagenarian mother makes all the desserts, including piecaken, a pie baked within a cake. At least a dozen homemade desserts are available daily.

The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on its Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website at americasbestrestaurants.com/ rests/pennsylvania/hanoverville-road-house.

Restaurants featured on the ABR Roadshow are found through customer nominations or by a restaurant applying to be featured at www.americasbestrestaurants.com.

The Hanoverville Roadhouse, 5001 Hanoverville Road, Bethlehem, 610-837-1122, is closed Sunday and Wednesday. For information, go to www. hanovervilleroadhouse.com.
