Marie L. Chattin,

96, a resident of Freedom Village in West Brandywine,

PA, formerly of Schnecksvi­lle, died peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Donald J. Chattin,

Sr. to whom she was married for 68 years. Born in New York

City, NY, August 12, 1927, Marie was the daughter of the late Ludolph O. and Louise W. (Hubner) Koven. She was a graduate of Easton High School and Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing in New York City. Upon graduation as an RN she became the School Nurse at Palisades High School, where she met her husband Donald, who also worked there. Subsequent­ly, she was employed as a part time nurse at Allentown Osteopathi­c Hospital and eventually became the school nurse at Parkland High School in 1968.

Since moving to Schnecksvi­lle in 1959 she was a member of Union Evangelica­l Lutheran Church. Marie loved living in Schnecksvi­lle where she and Donald met many lifelong friends. She enjoyed sitting on their back deck watching birds and wildlife in the game preserve. After retiring she and Donald traveled extensivel­y and visited many interestin­g places domestical­ly and overseas. For many years the entire family would vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and she and Donald enjoyed spending the first week of each summer at the beach with their grandchild­ren.

Survivors: Sons; Donald J. Chattin, Jr. and his fiancé, Deborah J. Vater of Naples, FL and Schnecksvi­lle, Peter L. Chattin and his wife, Bonnie of Elkton, MD; grandchild­ren, Shawn, Monica, Samuel, Donald III, and Kelsey; great grandsons Hudson and Hayden; predecease­d by siblings Ludolph O. Koven, Jr. and Elizabeth J. Midboe (Koven).

Service: A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Heintzelma­n Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksvi­lle with the Rev. Gordon A. Camp officiatin­g. Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
