Former councilwoman launches new foundation
Former Allentown City Councilwoman Gail Hoover, known for running a charity event that raises money to fight AIDS as well as help animal and pet charities, has started a new foundation “to plug holes” in charity giving in the Lehigh Valley.
Hoover has gathered a team of community members to launch the Gail Hoover Foundation, a 501(C)3 nonprofit. A launch celebration was held in October in Bethlehem, according to a news release.
“I’m so excited to launch the Gail Hoover Foundation. For a long time, I’ve wanted to find a way to amplify the causes that my friends, family, and I care deeply about, and to help make the voices of our “unspoken needs” heard,” Hoover said in the release. “My goal in launching the foundation is to work with causes that may be small, but fill a huge void. I want to inspire positive change, and empower individuals that may not think their need is worth talking about.”
“The energy and dedication of the newly appointed board of directors to improve the Lehigh Valley is so incredible, and I am hoping we can use this as a way to ‘plug the holes’ in our communities, and inspire more people to get involved in giving back,” she said.
The Gail Hoover Foundation plans to support events and causes big and small, the release said. Individuals can contribute to the foundation, find out about upcoming events and submit their cause to the board of directors on the website, gailhooverfoundation.org.
