- — Sarah M. Wojcik

A Wilson man faces felony sexual assault charges after admitting that he raped a girl over the span of several years, beginning when she was about 5 or 6 years old, according to court records.

Jason Allegar, 39, of the 2200 block of Birch Street in Wilson, is charged with rape of a child, involuntary sexual deviate intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, corruption of minors and indecent exposure. Hewas arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Robert Weber and sent to Northampton County Jail under $150,000 bail.

According to court records:

The mother of the now-12-year-old girl contacted Easton police in March after her daughter disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted over the course of years by a man who was known to the family.

Police spoke with Allegar on April 25 outside his home and he denied the allegations. He said he would take a polygraph exam to prove his innocence.

On June 5, the child was interviewed by child advocates at the John Van Brakle Child Advocacy Center in Lehigh County. She said that over the span of several years, Allegar would force her into various sex acts, including intercourse.

The incidents became increasingly frequent, she said.

“Every time there was nobody in the room with us” she said Allegar would sexually assault her.

On Aug. 27, Allegar reported to the Northampton County Courthouse for his polygraph exam. He confessed to the test taker that he had sexual contact with the girl and had raped her.

He said he told her not to talk to her parents about the things he did to her. Allegar told authorities the girl had been 5 or 6 when he started the abuse.
