Thestate Health Department reported 2,251 additional cases of the coronavirus Sunday, with 82 new cases in the Lehigh Valley, though it was unclear whether that figure spanned both Saturday and Sunday.

The state typically reports numbers Saturday, but they were delayed. It instead reported that data Sunday, and appeared to include numbers from later in the weekend as well. In the last several weeks, it has not reported any data Sunday, instead including it with its Monday report.

It was not clear if those were all new cases, or included some cases from earlier in the year, as happened several times over the last week.

To date, there have been 163,535 infections statewide since the start of the pandemic with 10,367 in the Lehigh Valley. There were 39 new cases reported this weekend in Lehigh County and 43 in Northampton County.

The seven-day moving average of newly-reported cases was 958 on Sunday, up from 631 a week ago. The average is affected by days last week that included hundreds of older cases that were reported for the first time.

The state reported 20 deaths Saturday and another 17 Sunday, but none occurred in Lehigh or Northampton County.

The number of deaths across the state now totals 8,216.

The counties with the largest increases in coronavirus case counts Sunday were Philadelphia with 286; Allegheny, 204; Centre, 179; Montgomery, 102; and York, 99. Asof Sunday, there were 28,759 new tests administered with a 7.3% positive rate. The overall positive test rate is now at 7.6%
