Mobile COVID-19 testing site to run in Valley
Amobile site for COVID-19 testing, developed for neighborhoods where traditional health care locations aren’t readily accessible, will visit locations around the Lehigh Valley over the next few weeks.
The CATE Mobile Response Unit — CATE stands for community accessible testing and education — was developed by the Pennsylvania Health Department, Highmark Blue Shield, Independence Blue Cross, and Latino Connection.
In collaboration with St. Luke’s University Health Network and other community partners, the unit will conduct COVID-19 testing for people who are showing symptoms or who have been exposed to the pandemic illness.
CATE’s schedule is as follows:
Allentown (flu shots also available): Buck Boyle Park, 10 Pump Place, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bethlehem: Marvine Elementary School, 1425 Livingston St., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 26.
Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley, 520 E. Fourth St., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 27.
Easton: Easton Neighborhood Center, 902 Philadelphia Road, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10.
In addition to St. Luke’s, other partners supporting these events include state Rep. Pete Schweyer, Allentown Health Bureau, Bethlehem Health Bureau, Bethlehem Area School District, Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley, Easton Neighborhood Center and Star Wellness.
