Thursday’s Events

▪ Pennsylvania reported 1,598 newcoronavirus cases Thursday. The case total statewide is 177,520.

▪ 54 of the cases Thursday were in the Lehigh Valley, with 30 in Lehigh County and 24 in Northampton County.

▪ The number of people hospitalized in Pennsylvania was 799, at or near the highest level in months.

▪ There were 21 more deaths statewide, bringing the total to 8,432.

▪ State House Republicans unveiled a package of bills on Wednesday intended to boost a state economy ravaged by the coronavirus.

▪ An aide to Democratic vice-presidential Kamala Harris tested positive for the virus, as did a pilot. Harris canceled in-person campaigning through Sunday.
