The Morning Call

Biden and Wild support climate change legislation

-

Was Greta Thunberg too divisive a choice for the Nobel Peace Prize? The selection committee disagrees in thinking about climate change as a factor in armed conflict.

However, the United States Joint Chiefs of

Staff consider climate change a high level threat for national security. At a 2020 House Armed Services Committee hearing it was noted that “The United States military manages more than 1,700 installations in worldwide coastal areas that may be affected by sea level rise.”

When a population cannot live without proper water or food, they are forced to move to another area for survival. This population pressure often leads to conflict.

Hopefully American voters value paying attention to governmental treatment for climate change. In Pennsylvania, candidates Joe Biden and Rep. Susan Wild have focused on this issue.

Wild was an early supporter of HR 763, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. In the future Sen. Casey will sign a Senate version if given the opportunity, I trust. They will not stand back or stand by. Act for national security through climate change solutions. Vote for solutions to real problems, not imagined problems. Vote for Biden and Wild. Peg Church
